There are a handful of great books written about harpsichord maintenance that covers the basics and beyond. If you are anything like me, then you have likely been confused by the terminology in harpsichord manuals and texts. I personally need to see something to understand it. While some published texts include black-and-white photos or diagrams, in this ebook, I include colored photos, together with videos, to help bridge that gap.

As a piano technician, I was nervous to accept a request to service a harpsichord for a recording session last month. After reading Cassel’s book, I was confident enough to accept the job – and, subsequently, it was a great success! The descriptions in the book are written by a piano tech for piano techs, helping concepts and techniques seem familiar and accessible. My favorite part, however, is the inclusion of video demonstrations. They are unequaled in any harpsichord book. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to dip into the world of harpsichords!

I bought this e-book to refer to after taking Jason’s harpsichord class at the PTG convention. So glad I did! As a piano technician doing contract work at a university, I was asked to service their harpsichord this fall in preparation for a guest artist. The instrument needed more than just tuning (two broken strings and very uneven touch). With the descriptions and videos in this book as a guide, I was able get the instrument into playable condition again! I also appreciated the list at the end of the book of further resources for additional learning beyond the basics.
